FAMILY, FANS MAKE LIFE-LIKE STATUE OF PHALKE | 27 April, 2019

Descendants and fans of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema, have unveiled a life-like statue of the man ahead of his 150th birth anniversary on 30th April. Dhundiraj Govind Bhat or Dadasaheb Phalke was born on 30th April, 1870 and passed away on 16th February, 1944. The statue has been sculpted by Vinay Wagh, a third-generation sculptor in Bom­bay. Wagh, who also manages the Dadasaheb Phalke International Awareness Mis­sion, said that the statue will be used for functions in his sesquicentennial year.
