Actres-MP Hema Malini, in association with PETA India, gifted a life-sized mechanical elephant to the ISKCON temple at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai. This is the first religious institution in Maharashtra to be given a mechanical elephant. The gift is to discourage the exploitation of real elephants which are often kept captive in poor conditions.
