Ravi Kishan will be the BJP candidate from Gorakhpur, it was announced on 15th April. The actor had unsuccessfully contested from Jaunpur on a Congress ticket in 2014. He later switched to the BJP and campaigned for the party in the 2017 assembly elections. Ravi Kishan is the fourth star to be fielded by the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, after Jaya Prada from Rampur, Hema Malini from Mathura, and Dineshlal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ from Azamgarh.
