Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been booked in an alleged Rs. 30 crore fraud case in Udaipur. The complaint was filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, who produced Tumko Meri Kasam, a film directed by Vikram Bhatt. Dr. Murdia is the founder of Indira IVF, a fertility treatment chain in India. Tumko Meri Kasam was about how Dr. Murdia started fertility treatment in the country with his chain of clinics.
The FIR was filed at the Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur. Besides Vikram Bhatt, there are several others named in the FIR, including his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt. According to the FIR, Dr. Murdia was allegedly lured into investing Rs. 30 crore after being promised that the film, based on his life story, would generate profits of around Rs. 200 crore. The project was pitched as a biopic meant to honour Dr. Ajay Murdia’s late wife, Indira Murdia.
Vikram Bhatt has denied any wrong-doing and has said that the accusations may have been supported by fabricated documents. Bhatt said that Dr. Murdia abruptly halted the production of the film (titled Virat) and also failed to clear payments of technicians, totally amounting to Rs. 250 crore.
