Samrat Cinematics’ Ajey: The Untold Story Of A Yogi (UA) narrates the life story of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The story starts from his childhood but concentrates more on the years when he is a grown-up. It also explains how he was initiated into politics and ultimately became the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
The film is based on Shantanu Gupta’s biography of Yogi Adityanath. The story, written by Dilip Bachchan Jha and Priyank Dubey, is quite interesting and so is their screenplay which moves at a fair pace. However, the drama holds more appeal for fans of the politician rather than universal appeal. The duo’s dialogues are appropriate.
Anant Vijay Joshi does a fine job as Ajey alias Yogi Adityanath. Paresh Rawal is excellent in the role of Bada Maharaj. Pavan Malhotra leaves a fine mark as Ajey’s father. Garima Vikrant Singh lends able support as Ajey’s mother. Ajey Mengi is alright. Rajesh Khatter is fairly nice in the role of Mushtaq. Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua is okay as journalist Dhananjay.
Ravindra Gautam’s direction is quite nice but he has not been able to make a film that would appeal to all kinds of audience. Meet Bros.’ music is not of the popular variety. Lyrics (Kumaar, Jashar Singh, Sangita Singh and Nadaan) are okay. Meet Bros.’ background music is quite nice. Vishnu Rao’s cinematography is appealing. Sunil Yadav does a fair job of the action and stunt scenes. Udai Prakash Singh’s production designing is proper. Manan Sagar’s editing is reasonably sharp.
On the whole, Ajey: The Untold Story Of A Yogi is a fairly well-made film but lack of promotion and absence of universal appeal will see its business happening in pockets like U.P., etc.
