‘NIRDHAR’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 28 November, 2025

Jayalakshmi Creations’ Nirdhar (Marathi; UA) is the story of five college students who uncover a painful truth about the involvement of their own families in the tragedy that destroyed the village of their professor. They are torn between loyalty to the family and justice. How they expose corruption forms the crux of the story.

Dinanath Walavalkar has written a story and screenplay, which are interesting in parts only. Lack of novelty is a minus point as one has seen dramas of this kind, where the protagonist/s stands/stand for justice over all else. Although some scenes are interesting, the overall drama fails to have the desired impact. Dinanath Walavalkar’s dialogues are alright; some of them are very good.

Abhay Patil does fairly well as Kuldip. Rutuja Kanojia is good as Tejaswini. Shreyas Mohite is quite nice in the role of Atharva. Janhvi Sawant is okay as Saloni. Abhinav Kurane is so-so as Raj. Dr. Girish Oak makes his mark as Saxena. Pallavi Patwardhan leaves a good impression as Veena Tai. Milind Uke has his moments as DCP Pardesi. Umesh Bolke is so-so as the politician. Pragya Kelkar, Dinanath Walavalkar, Yuvraj Jugar, Ketki Patil, Pallavi Prasad, Anand Patil, Surendra Ketkar, Vidya Dange, N.D. Chougule, Komal Ranadive and the others do as required.

Dilip Bhopale’s direction is ordinary. Raj Padare’s music, and Dinanath Walavalkar’s lyrics are functional. Sangram Bhalkar’s choreography is okay. Amey Nare’s background music should’ve been more effective. Atul Supare’s camerawork is ordinary. Art direction (by Vicky Bidkar) is okay. Vijay Pandurang Khochikar’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Nirdhar is too weak to make any mark at the turnstiles.

Released on 28-11-’25 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Pickle Entertainment. Publicity & opening: weak.
