‘UUT’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 21 November, 2025

Vera Filmms and Refined Vintage’s Uut (Marathi; UA) is the story of a young man from a lower caste, who loves an upper caste girl.

Sharanam (Raj Misal) belongs to a lower caste. He loves Tara (Aarya Save) who belongs to an upper caste. Their love for each other does not fructify into marriage because of caste differences. Sharanam studies to become a police officer. On the day of his posting in his own village, Tara marries Rupesh (Sachin Danai). As luck would have it, Rupesh is killed on his wedding night. Tara’s cousin, Mayur (Deepak Patil), assumes that a frustrated Sharanam must’ve murdered Rupesh. He, therefore, swears revenge. Does he kill Sharanam? What happens thereafter?

Ram Mallik’s story is silly. His screenplay moves in a very predictable fashion. The unpredictable part of the drama is so stupid that it makes the viewers wonder why Sharanam is doing what he is doing. The entire love story progresses without involving the audience or moving them. The ending is not at all appealing. Ram Mallik’s dialogues are okay at places.

Raj Misal is alright as Sharanam. Aarya Save looks nice; her acting (as Tara) is so-so. Suparna Shyam lends fine support as Sharanam’s aunt, Gulab. Purushottam Wagh is alright as Sharanam’s uncle, Nandu Kamble. Deepak Patil has his moments as Tara’s cousin, Mayur. Sachin Danai is adequate in a bit role as Tara’s husband, Rupesh. Shailesh Korde is average as Tara’s father, Nana Patil. Rajkumar Tangde is ordinary as Sharanam’s father, Sada. Prajakta Kelkar (as Tara’s mother), Aniket Kelkar (as Tara’s uncle, Tanya), Archana Rawal (as Tara’s aunt), Abhay Kulkarni (as Bhaskar) and the rest provide routine support.

Ram Mallik’s direction is weak. Music (Vijay Gavande, Shreyas Angane, Ashutosh Kulkarni, Arvind Sagole and Sharang Raj) is fairly nice. Lyrics (by Vaibhav Deshmukh, Dr. Vinayak Pawar, Deepak Wagh, Vaibhav Joshi and Subodh Pawar) are ordinary. Jeet Singh’s choreography is barely functional. Arvind Sagole’s background music is not up to the mark. Karan Tandale does an average job of the camerawork. Nitin Bhosale’s art direction is alright. Sunil Jadhav’s editing ought to have been sharper.

On the whole, Uut is a flop show.
