MISS U MISTER (Marathi) | 29 June, 2019

Mantra Vision Pvt. Ltd. and Third Eye Kreative Films’ Miss U Mister (Marathi; UA) is the story of a husband who is unable to give his wife enough time.

Varun (Siddharth Chandekar) and Kaveri (Mrunmayee Deshpande) are a couple. They book a flat but because they don’t have enough money to take possession of the flat, Varun decides to go to London to earn more money. While in London for a year, he keeps in touch with wife Kaveri. But they do have their share of problems because they aren’t able to always keep in touch – and not just because of the different time zones. Incidentally, Kaveri is a working woman.

Varun returns to India after a year but he keeps so busy at work, and with friends, family and relatives that Kaveri feels left out. As if that weren’t bad enough, she learns that Varun would be returning to London soon. That does it. She returns to her parental home as she feels slighted that such an important decision was not shared by her husband with her. What happens thereafter?

Sameer Hemant Joshi’s story is routine. Except for some light scenes, his screenplay is also quite commonplace. There are not too many turns and twists in the drama, because of which the proceedings fail to really excite the audience or keep them thoroughly engaged. His dialogues are average.

Siddharth Chandekar does well as Varun. Mrunmayee Deshpande excels in the role of Kaveri. Savita Prabhune makes her presence felt as Varun’s mother, Veda. Rajan Bhise lends decent support as Varun’s dad. Avinash Narkar has his moments as Kaveri’s father, Shashank. Radhika Vidyasagar leaves a fair mark as Kaveri’s mother, Nandini. Dipti Lele is adequate as Kaveri’s cousin, Ruchita. Hrishikesh Joshi is alright as the friend of Kaveri’s dad. Others lend routine support.

Sameer Hemant Joshi’s direction is commonplace. Aalap Desai’s music and Vaibhav Joshi’s lyrics are ordinary. Kedar Gaekwad’s camerawork is proper. Purva Pandit’s art direction is okay. Editing (Pravin Jahagirdar) could’ve been sharper.

On the whole, Miss U Mister is a poor fare.
