KABIR SINGH came like a hurricane and swept the box-office off its feet.

Kabir Singh started outstandingly strong and held on wonderfully all through the first week. It joined the 100-crore club on the fifth day itself. It netted a whopping Rs. 20.21 crore on the first day. Collections increased by a little over 10% on Saturday (Rs. 22.71 crore) and shot up to Rs. 27.91 crore on Sunday, thanks to phenomenally positive word of mouth. After a weekend of Rs. 70.83 crore, collections were super-strong during the weekdays too: Monday – Rs. 17.54 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 16.53 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 15.91 crore, Thursday – Rs. 13.61 crore. By adding Rs. 63.59 crore to its kitty in the weekdays, it took its first week’s total to Rs. 134.42 crore. The love story is all set for a long run and will definitely join the Rs. 200-crore club very soon. Although one section of the public is criticising the film on social media (for showing the hero as one who drinks, smokes up and even beats his girlfriend but yet emerges a winner in the end), the collections reflect that that section is in a minority and its words have not had much bearing on the public.

Fastey Fasaatey is a box-office dud which fared poorly in 1st week.

Toy Story 4 (animation; dubbed) and the English original of the same name collected Rs. 4.50 crore in the first weekend, and another Rs. 1.75 crore in the weekdays. Its total for the first week was, therefore, Rs. 6.25 crore.

Game Over (dubbed) and the original Tamil and Telugu versions netted Rs. 2.30 crore in the second weekend. They added Rs. 0.95 crore to the kitty in the weekdays so that the total for 2nd week was Rs. 3.25 crore. The 2-week total was Rs. 12.19 crore.

Bharat collected Rs. 3.45 crore in the third weekend, and Rs. 1.60 crore during the weekdays. By adding Rs. 5.05 crore in the third week, the film took its 3-week total to Rs. 199.95 crore.

Shadaa (Punjabi) is a runaway hit. It netted Rs. 2.60 crore on day 1, Rs. 3 crore on day 2, and Rs. 3.60 crore on Sunday, taking the weekend total to a historic Rs. 9.20 crore. Collections during the weekdays were equally fantastic: Monday – Rs. 2.35 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.10 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.85 crore. In this way, it added Rs. 8.30 crore to its kitty in the weekdays. Its total for the first week was an astounding Rs. 17.50 crore!!
