Telangana minister Konda Surekha has been summoned by a Hyderabad court in a criminal defamation suit filed by actor Nagarjuna in relation to her controversial comment linking his son, Naga Chaitanya, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce to political figures. Despite Surekha retracting her statement, it caused outrage leading to Nagarjuna filing a lawsuit against her. She has been asked by the special judicial first class magistrate to remain present in court on December 12.
Konda Surekha had alleged in October that BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao was responsible for the break-up between actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Her statement suggested that he had used manipulative tactics against actresses, which led to outrage in film as well as political circles.
