An FIR has been registered against an office boy working for music director Pritam Chakraborty for allegedly stealing a bag containing Rs. 40 lakh in cash from the latter’s studio at Goregaon West in Bombay. The Malad (Bombay) police lodged the FIR on the basis of a complaint filed by Pritam’s manager, Vinit Chheda. The incident occurred on February 4.
The accused, Ashish Sayal, had been working for Pritam for seven years. According to the FIR, a film producer had sent the cash to Pritam’s studio on February 4 in connection with work. Chheda counted the cash and kept it in a trolley bag. Three other employees, including Sayal, were present in the studio at the time. Chheda later went to Pritam’s residence to take his signatures on some papers. Around 10.30 p.m. the same day, Chheda went back to the studio but the trolley bag was missing. Sayal was also nowhere to be seen, and his phone was switched off. Vinit Chheda approached the Malad police the following day.
