‘BETTER-HALF CHI LOVE STORY’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 22 August, 2025

Sushilkumar Agrawal, Ultra and Rajat Media & Entertainment’s Better-Half Chi Love Story (Marathi; UA) is the story of a widower’s life after his better half’s spirit enters his body.

Ajay Patil (Subodh Bhave) and Soniya (Rinku Rajguru) love one another and get married. But Ajay’s life becomes hell because Soniya is suspicious by nature. She suspects Ajay of having an affair with his boss, Mona (Prarthana Behere). She is also wary of Ajay’s friendship with Bhagwan Kale (Aniket Vishwasrao).

Soniya accidentally dies while fighting with Ajay one day. After her death, her spirit enters Ajay’s body and makes life hell for him, especially because he has by then fallen in love with Mona. What happens thereafter?

Sanjay Amar has written a story and screenplay, which lack conviction. The drama is so childish that it’s not funny. Even the comedy scenes are only partially entertaining. Sanjay Amar’s dialogues are so-so.

Subodh Bhave is alright as Ajay Patil. Rinku Rajguru is okay as Soniya. The two don’t make a very nice couple because of the age difference. Prarthana Behere acts ably as Ajay’s boss, Mona. Aniket Vishwasrao is fair in the role of Bhagwan Kale. Akshaya Shetty lends ordinary support as tantrik Kishori Kalsekar. Kishore Chougule is ordinary as police inspector Mandar Phophale. Ganesh Yadav (as Dhundiraj), Ajita Kulkarni (as a film star), Satish Samudre (as ACP Bhosle), Aslam R. Wadkar (as Soniya’s father), Deepti Jadhav (as Soniya’s mother), Akshay Dandekar (as Ritesh) and the others provide passable support.

Sanjay Amar’s direction, limited as it is by his routine and unexciting script, is very ordinary. Sajan Patel and Ameya Nare’s music is nothing to dance about. The duo’s background music is ordinary. Sanjay Amar and Sajan Patel’s lyrics are functional. Sanjay Amar does an average job of the camerawork. Prakash Jha’s editing should’ve been sharper.

On the whole, Better-Half Chi Love Story is a flop show.
