SETBACK FOR RAJKUMAR SANTOSHI IN CHEQUE-BOUNCING CASE | 15 October, 2025

Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi faced a setback in the Jamnagar sessions court today (October 15) in a cheque-bouncing case. His appeal against the Special Negotiable Instruments Court’s order in Jamnagar was dismissed by the sessions court. In other words, the sessions court upheld the decision of the lower court.

The Special Negotiable Instruments Court had convicted Santoshi, ordering him to pay double the amount of the cheques which had bounced and had also sentenced him to two years’ imprisonment.

The case relates to businessman Ashok Lal having lent Rajkumar Santoshi Rs. 1 crore. Santoshi had given him post-dated cheques of Rs. 10 lakh each for repayment of the loan monies. However, all those cheques were returned unpaid by the bank. Lal went to the Special Court which ruled against Santoshi. After losing the legal battle, Santoshi appealed to the sessions court in Jamnagar, which upheld the order of the Special Court. It also directed the filmmaker to appear before it by October 27 failing which an arrest warrant would be issued against Santoshi.
