THREE-DAY MUMBAI AI FILMMAKING FESTIVAL ENDS | 7 November, 2025

The Royal Opera House in Bombay witnessed the Mumbai AI Filmmaking Festival (MAFF) from October 31 to November 2. It brought together the worlds of artificial intelligence, filmmaking and storytelling. Hosted by LocalHost in collaboration with Invideo, the three-day festival marked India’s first large-scale celebration of AI in cinema, drawing over 1,200 applicants with 15 selected teams creating AI-powered short films that premiered on the red carpet before a distinguished jury and audience. Filmmakers from Dubai, San Francisco and Singapore as well as from 20 Indian states participated.

The festival culminated in the premiere of 15 ground-breaking AI short films, judged by film industry’s Kunal Kapoor, Ram Madhvani, Mukul Deora and Shakun Batra. Tanmay Bhat, Ritesh Deshmukh, Karan Anshuman also attended alongside professionals from Netflix India, JioHotstar and Google.

The event’s organising team was led by Hardeep Gambhir and Chandan Perla of LocalHost.
