The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against 46 persons, including actors Shreyas Talpade and Alok Nath, for allegedly duping several people in Uttarakhand and other states of around Rs. 100 crore by promising high returns on their investments. Shreyas and Alok Nath were brand ambassadors of the fraudulent investment company, Loni Urban Multi-State Credit & Thrift Cooperative Society.

Besides Uttarakhand, the Society is said to have allegedly duped investors in other states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

The case was registered by the CBI’s Dehradun office on November 26 by merging 18 FIRs registered by the Uttarakhand police over the past few years on complaints made by the victims of the scam. The FIR was registered after the September order of the Uttarakhand high court, passed while hearing PILs in the matter.
