Malayalam film producer and businessman C.J. Roy was found dead in his office premises in Bangalore on January 30. According to the police, circumstances indicate that it could be suicide.
Just recently, the Income-Tax department had conducted raids at offices linked to his Confident Group.
Roy was a prominent figure in real estate as well as a popular name in South Indian cinema. Besides Malayalam, he also produced films in Kannada. He was known for his big-budget films. Among the Malayalam films he had produced were Casanovva and Ladies And Gentlemen, starring Mohanlal. He was also the producer of the historical epic, Marakkar, besides Meim Hoom Moosa and Identity. His Anomie is scheduled to release this month. Among the Kannada films produced by C.J. Roy are Crazy Loka and Radhana Ganda.
