A case of fraud was registered on August 17 against producers Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria over a Rs. 1.50 crore rights deal. Vikas Sahni of Grand Master has claimed that the negative rights of Dhamaal (2007) were sold by the two producers to his company in 2019. However, Sahni realised later that the lifetime OTT rights had allegedly been sold previously (in 2015) to Shemaroo Entertainment. After mediation by a retired judge failed, Vikas Sahni filed a criminal complaint and had an FIR lodged against the two partners in production house Maruti International.
