The Haryana government on August 25 granted a 21-day furlough to actor-producer-director and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving jail terms in two rape cases. This is his third such release from prison this year, and the 17th release on parole/furlough so far since his conviction in August 2017.
Ram Rahim Singh left the Sunaria jail in Rohtak around 6 a.m. and headed for the Dera headquarters in Sirsa. He will return to prison on Sept. 15. By the end of this furlough, he will have been out of jail for 457 days in the nine years of his incarceration.
