Wayfarer Films’ I’m Game (dubbed from the Malayalam film of the same name; UA) is the story of a fearless cricket gambler, Dan John (Dulquer Salmaan), who has more faith in luck than life.
Nahas Hidhayath’s story is unconventional and tries to pack in too much. The screenplay, penned by Sajeer Baba, Ismail Aboobacker and Bilal Moidu, has humour, drama, romance, action and a dash of the supernatural. Consequently, it appears too scattered. Dialogues are so-so.
Dulquer Salmaan lives the role of Dan John. He performs excellently. Kayadu Lohar is quite good. Antony Varghese is very good as Vicky. Mysskin is nice in the role of Toni. Samyuktha Viswanathan lends fair support. Kathir is okay. Vinay Forrt makes his presence felt. Jayasudha makes her mark. Shyamaprasad is alright. Prabhakar, Eldho Mathew, Parthi Tiwari, Midhun Venugopal, Veena Kaladharan, Neeraja Rajendran, Bilas Chandrahasan, Zahrah S. Khan (in a cameo appearance in a song-dance) and Asif Ali (in a cameo appearance) lend able support.
Nahas Hidhayath’s direction is good in parts only. The drama often dips. Jakes Bejoy’s music may not appeal to the Hindi film-going viewers. Lyrics are so-so. Song picturisations (by Sandy) are fair. Jakes Bejoy’s background music is impactful. Jimshi Khalid does a fine job of the camerawork. Anbariv’s action and stunt scenes are interesting. Ajayan Chalissery’s production designing is of a reasonable standard. Chaman Chacko’s editing should’ve been tighter. Dubbing is good.
On the whole, I’m Game does not have much for the Hindi film-going audience and will go largely unnoticed.
