‘KAPUSKONDA’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 23 October, 2026

Panorama Studios, Storywalla Film, Jaasvand Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and VP Mauli Group Of Companies’ Kapuskonda (Marathi; UA) is the story of a loving bond that develops between a dog and his master.

Hamid (Sachin Pilgaonkar) is a retired postmaster who is scared of dogs. He lives with wife Nusrat (Madhurani Gokhale), elder daughter Sheena (Janhvi Tambat) and younger daughter Heena (Akshata Padgaonkar). On the day of retirement, Heena brings home a puppy. Initially reluctant to keep him home, Hamid slowly but surely bonds beautifully with the puppy. Calamity strikes when the dog is badly injured in a road accident. What happens thereafter? Is Hamid able to save his dog? If so, how?

Sachin Mohite’s story is too simplistic and lacks emotions. The screenplay, written by Ganesh Pandit, Sachin Mohite and Rushikesh Turai, is quite good but it doesn’t have too many high points. Even the portion where the puppy is injured doesn’t really shake the viewers. Hamid’s efforts to get the puppy medical attention also don’t evoke sentiments in the audience. The trio’s dialogues are nice.

Sachin Pilgaonkar does an excellent job as Hamid. Madhurani Gokhale acts ably in the role of Nusrat. Janhvi Tambat is alright as Sheena. Akshata Padgaonkar is fair as Heena. Bhushan Patil lends decent support as Keshav. Bhau Kadam’s voice acting is appealing. The puppy is endearing. Others fit the bill.

Sachin Mohite’s direction is quite nice but he should have increased the emotional quotient in the film. A.V. Prafullachandra’s music is appealing. Lyrics (by A.V. Prafullachandra and Vaibhav Deshmukh) are alright. Choreography is functional. Abhijeet Hegdepatil’s background music is quite impactful. Sachin Patekar does a fine job of the cinematography. Rajiv Ranjan’s production designing is alright. Afzal Shaikh’s editing is suitably sharp.

On the whole, Kapuskonda is a decent film but it lacks emotions. Had it been an emotional experience, it would’ve worked extremely well at the ticket windows.

Released on 23-10-’26 at Mukta A2 Bharatmata (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Panorama Studios. Publicity: alright. Opening: so-so.
