Opposition members staged a walkout in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation meeting on October 22 over the approval for change of reservation of the plot housing the 105-year-old Alexandra Cinema at Byculla in Bombay from cinema amenity to residential/residential use zone received deemed approval. Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) corporators opposed the proposal.
The proposal was first placed before the BMC Improvements Committee on August 10, but it was not decided within the stipulated period.
