Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s The Cat In The Hat (animation; dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name) is about a cat who has one last chance to prove himself to his exasperated boss and to keep his job. He is given his toughest assignment as an agent of the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration (I.I.I.I.) to cheer up siblings Gabby and Sebastian, who are struggling with their move to a new town.
Caroline Williams has penned a story based on Dr. Seuss’ book of the same name. It has limited appeal. The screenplay, written by Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni, has some interesting parts and others which are not so engaging. The drama, therefore, doesn’t hold the audience’s attention throughout.
Voice acting by the voice over artistes is good in some cases and ordinary in others.
Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni’s direction is fair. The directors have not been able to narrate the subject in a manner which could make the drama very funny and entertaining. Lorne Balfe’s background music is alright. Aidan Sugano’s production designing is okay. Dan Molina’s editing should’ve been sharper. Dubbing is quite good.
On the whole, The Cat In The Hat is too ordinary to make any mark at the box-office.
