PRITAM PYARE BUSIER THAN THE BEE | July, 2019

That Pritam Chakraborty is the beloved (pyare) of producers is evident from the fact that his name adorns the credit titles of many big-banner and big star cast films. The hotshot music composer has always maintained that the two parameters he uses to decide which film he must sign are the script and his friendship with the producer/director. He has admitted that he delivers his best when he is working with his favourite directors.

There’ll be a steady flow of Pritam films in the coming months. His ‘filmathon with friends’ will begin with Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore which will hit the screens on 30th August. Says Pritam about Tiwari: “His films are not musicals but the stories and treatment of his films are so beautiful that although the songs are situational, they stay with the audience.”

Pritam Chakraborty is also currently working on Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. One may recall the magic Ayan and Pritam had together created in their Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Brahmastra will release early next year. Another film Pritam is busy with these days is the untitled film of Anurag Basu with whom he has invariably delivered hit music (Jagga Jasoos, Life In A Metro!, Gangster and Barfi!). Again, Pritam has scored the music for Imtiaz Ali’s Aajkal, starring Kartik Aryan and Sara Ali Khan. One doesn’t need to be reminded about the magic created by the maverick filmmaker and the hit-machine music director in Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. And then there’s Kabir Khan’s 83, the film on the 1983 cricket World Cup, starring Ranveer Singh essaying the then Indian captain, Kapil Dev.

That’s not all. There are some more films but Pritam is in no hurry to announce their names. He’d rather wait for the producers concerned to make the announcements.
