Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 has done it again. It has been exempted from payment of state GST in Maharashtra too. Maharashtra has emulated the examples of Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi. Unfortunately, the central government has not exempted the well-deserving film from GST and hence despite the various state governments granting the film tax-exemption, patrons have to pay CGST on the tickets. Had the central government also exempted the film from GST, the audience would not have to pay any GST. But as things stand today, the public has to pay 50% of the usual GST even in states where it has been granted tax-exemption because of the central GST.
Super 30 is an inspirational film and is based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar who teaches needy but bright IIT students for free.
