Despite mixed reports, Baaghi 3 has done very well in the first week. The Covid-19 scare adversely affected collections by 3-5% but with cinemas in Delhi, Bombay and many other parts of the country shutting down from yesterday/today (13th/14th March), collections all over will, of course, take a hit. In its first week, the film had to also contend with the dull examination days and the equally dull pre-Holi days (6th to 9th March). The film may not have taken a flying start in the morning shows on the first day but collections picked up as the day progressed, and Friday ultimately closed at a handsome Rs. 17 crore. Collections dropped by a little less than 10% on Saturday, as often happens in the case of action films which open well. After collecting Rs. 15.50 crore on Saturday, collections increased to Rs. 20 crore on Sunday. The first weekend, therefore, closed at Rs. 52.50 crore. Collection on Monday was Rs. 9 crore but Tuesday closed at a fantastic Rs. 13.50 crore owing to Holi holiday. Collections on Wednesday and Thursday were Rs. 7.50 crore and Rs. 5 crore respectively. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 35 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 87.50 crore. The film would’ve easily netted Rs. 120 crore-plus in its lifetime but with the dynamics changing due to cinemas in different parts of India shutting down because of the coronavirus fear, the business henceforth will be adversely affected.

Kaamyaab could not manage to do much in the first week as it found patronage mainly from the elite audience only.

Thappad dropped around 60% in 2nd week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 0.85 crore. Collections on Saturday almost doubled to Rs. 1.65 crore. The collection of Rs. 2.15 crore on Sunday took the second weekend’s total to Rs. 4.65 crore. Collections on the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.05 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.35 crore (Holi), Wednesday – Rs. 0.65 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.50 crore. By netting Rs. 3.55 crore in the weekdays, the film took its total for the second week to Rs. 8.20 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 29.15 crore.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan managed to net Rs. 2.10 crore in the third weekend, and Rs. 1.70 crore in the weekdays so that its total for 3rd week was Rs. 3.80 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 58.50 crore.

Bhoot Part One – The Haunted Ship collected only Rs. 0.90 crore in the third weekend, and Rs. 0.70 crore in the weekdays. By adding just Rs. 1.60 crore to its kitty in the third week, it took its grand total for 3 weeks to Rs. 32.48 crore.
