Zee Studios has finally decided to go ahead with the release of its Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari either on Diwali, as scheduled, or a week later. In other words, the Diljit Dosanjh and Fatima Sana Shaikh starrer will release on either Nov. 13 or 20. A final decision is likely to be taken tonight or tomorrow. An insider revealed that the film will, in all probability, release on 13th November. Although cinemas haven’t reopened all over the country, the release plans will not change now. That is to say, the Abhishek Sharma-directed film will open wherever cinemas have reopened. Zee has decided to withhold the film’s OTT release.

There was news that Zee might either premiere the film on its OTT platform , ZeePlex, or release it in cinemas and on OTT simultaneously. The latest is that the film’s release on its own streaming platform will be done after the film’s theatrical run. However, the studio has decided to not wait for eight weeks, as was being done by producers in the pre-COVID days. Zee has made it clear to the cinemas — single-screen as well as multiplexes — that it is free to release it on its OTT platform no sooner than its theatrical run is exhausted.
It has also been decided that it will not pay the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) to the multiplexes/digital projection system companies. However, it will bear the cost of transferring the content to the cinemas.
