The after-effects of the pandemic lockdown have begun to be felt. As many as five single-screen cinemas in Hyderabad have downed shutters for good. The five cinemas which have permanently closed down are Galaxy, Sri Rama, Shanti, Amba and Sree Mayuri.
As fate would have it, it is Amazon once again which has come to the rescue of four of the five cinemas. No, not Amazon Prime Video which has been a saviour of sorts for producers, alongwith other OTT platforms, during the lockdown, but Amazon the company. For, four of the cinema properties have been acquired by Amazon to be used as godowns. The fifth cinema will give way to a commercial complex.
