CCCA URGES RAJASTHAN CM TO ALLOW CINEMAS TO REOPEN | 29 January, 2021

Cinema hall owners and distributors of Rajasthan have requested Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot to permit cinemas in the state to reopen. While cinemas in other states of the country reopened in October/November, cinemas in the state of Rajasthan have still not been allowed to restart operations. In view of the recent directive of the ministry of home affairs to permit cinemas in the country to function at more than 50% capacity from February 1, the CCCA as well as distributors and exhibitors of Rajasthan renewed their demand for allowing cinemas in the state to reopen. It is now more than 10 months since cinemas in Rajasthan have been shut due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

In the memorandum submitted to the chief minister, the CCCA has also demanded a package of concessions and reliefs to cinema owners to help them revive business and reduce the heavy losses they’ve suffered during the lockdown.
