I & B minister Prakash Javadekar has said that his ministry will issue norms to regulate content on OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. This follows complaints received from the public time and again, against web series and films streaming on OTT platforms. The minister’s comment is to be viewed in the light of the recent raging controversy around web series Tandav and Mirzapur.
Earlier, on 28th January, the Supreme Court asked the Centre to consider amending the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act to stop TV channels from airing offensive programmes instigating people or targeting a community.
