‘SOORYAVANSHI’ BRINGS BACK PUBLIC TO CINEMAS | 5 November, 2021

Rohit Shetty has done it! His Sooryavanshi has brought back the audiences to the cinemas. The big-budget extravaganza opened today all over the world. Although the early morning shows of the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer were ordinary, collections in the 12 noon shows and thereafter have been excellent, generally speaking. Of course, at places, even the shows which started at or around 10.30 a.m. were very good.

Collections would’ve been even better had the advance booking in multiplex properties, owned by the national chains of PVR, Inox, Cinepolis and Miraj, started on schedule. As is common knowledge by now, the terms of revenue-sharing between the producers of the film and the national multiplex chains were settled only late last evening (4th November). None of the four chains started advance booking for the film before the settlement. Hence, the online advance booking commenced yesterday after 10 p.m. only. The delay in the start of advance booking adversely affected collections in the early morning shows of such multiplexes as people were not sure whether the film would be releasing there or not.

Despite all this, the first day’s total net collections are likely to add up to a very handsome figure.
