MALAYALAM FILM ACTOR G.K. PILLAI BIDS ADIEU | 31 December, 2021

Veteran Malayalam film actor G.K. Pillai passed away this morning (31st December) in Thiruvananthapuram due to age-related illnesses. He was 97. He is survived by six children.

G.K. Pillai, who served the Indian Army and Navy before entering films, debuted with Snehaseema (1954). He shone in villainous roles. Among his well-known films are Thacholi Ambu, Palattu Kunjikannan, Padayottam, Ashwamedham, Aromalunni, Chola, Aanakkalari and Karyasthan. After working in the Malayalam film industry for a little more than three decades, he disappeared in the 1990s. He started his second innings in the 2000s. In all, he had acted in more than 325 films!

He debuted on television in 2004 with Kadamattathu Kathanar. He became a household name with the 2011 TV serial Kumkumapoovu.
