BMC SLAMMED FOR DRAGGING FEET ON AMITABH BACHCHAN’S WALL | 4 January, 2022

The Maharashtra Lokayukta yesterday (January 3) pulled up the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for giving “lame excuses” and delaying the demolition of the compound wall of Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha bungalow at Juhu in Bombay for a road-widening project. The BMC had last month said that the delay was because it did not have a contractor in place for the road-widening project. Justice V.M. Kanade of the Lokayukta said, “In my view, the reason given by the BMC for not carrying out the demolition doesn’t appear to be correct.”

Congress corporator Tulip Miranda had complained to the Lokayukta in October 2021 about the civic inaction. It may be mentioned here that in 2019, the BMC had demolished the boundary wall of a building adjoining Prateeksha while leaving the compound wall of Prateeksha untouched.
