Several people from the film industry will be honoured with the Padma Awards. The list of honourees was announced on the eve of Republic Day.
Filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi will be honoured with the Padma Shri. Singers Sonu Nigam and Sulochana Chavan (Marathi films) will be similarly honoured. The Padma Shri will also be conferred posthumously on legendary singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam. Actors Victor Banerjee and Madhur Jaffrey will be honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Jaffrey, however, will be honoured for her culinary skills.
