The Oshiwara (Bombay) police recently arrested Vishwanath Dixit for allegedly duping producer Nawman Malik of Rs. 20 lakh after promising to help him get approval for telecasting three serials on a Doordarshan channel. Vishwanath and his accomplice, Kushalnath Dixit, took Rs. 20 lakh from Malik after posing as producers with good contacts in DD. But when Malik enquired at Doordarshan, he realised that the duo had not even approached DD with any such deal for telecast of his three serials.
Based on Nawman Malik’s complaint, the police arrested Vishwanath Dixit from his Jogeshwari residence and booked him for cheating and criminal breach of trust. Kushalnath is wanted in the case.
