The Dindoshi (Bombay) sessions court has stayed proceedings against Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty before a magistrate’s court in a cheating case. However, the court added that the proceedings are to continue against their mother, Sunanda Shetty.
Mervin Automotive had alleged that Shilpa’s father, Surendra Shetty, had taken a hand loan of Rs. 21 lakh from him in 2015. It was also alleged that after his demise in 2016, the family refused to repay the loan amount. The court said that the complainant had not filed any document to prove that the Shetty sisters were partners in the partnership firm to which it had lent money, that they had concern with the loan taken, and that their intention from the very inception was to cheat him.
The matter will come up for hearing on April 25.
