In a shocking turn of events, the release of one of the most eagerly awaited films of this year so far, K.G.F. Chapter 2, has been postponed. Yash, the hero of the Kannada film which has been dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, told Information, “Sad, but true. We tried our very best to avoid a postponement because the craze for the film is at its peak. But circumstances are beyond our control.”
It is believed that there has been a fallout between Yash and director Prashanth Neel over creative differences. While Prashanth was unwilling to re-edit the K.G.F. sequel, hero Yash wanted him to shorten the length to get the film’s running time to 150 minutes. The film’s current running time is 168 minutes and 6 seconds. The original Kannada version was censored on March 30.
If the matter between Yash and Neel remains unresolved till Sunday (April 3), there might be only one Hindi film — Jersey — releasing on April 14. When contacted, Aman Gill, one of the producers of Jersey, remarked, “I haven’t heard anything about K.G.F. Chapter 2 being postponed.” He continued, “But if Film Information has the news of the postponement, it must have been checked and counter-checked because you are very careful about what you publish.” There was a tinge of joy in Aman’s voice for obvious reasons. Almost everyone in the trade had been wondering why Jersey was being pitted against K.G.F. Chapter 2 (Hindi dubbed). Well, if the South film is, in fact, postponed, the producers of the South hit’s remake (Jersey) may have the last laugh.
P.S.: The above is just an April Fool joke. If you’ve reached this line, you qualify to be called a fool. Just grin and bear it!
