A special PMLA court on June 27 rejected actor-producer Sachin Joshi’s plea to fly to Switzerland to meet his daughter and resolve certain issues with her boarding school there. The court said that when the Enforcement Directorate expresses fears of a flight risk, it cannot be overlooked and ignored.
Sachin is an accused in a money laundering case and he had been arrested by the ED on February 14 last year. The chargesheet was submitted by the ED against Joshi, Omkar Group promoters Babulal Varma, Kamal Kishor Gupta and 14 firms associated with them. He was granted bail in March this year. The same court in May rejected his plea to travel abroad for six months, observing that granting such permission would amount to inviting a flight risk. The court had then added that during his incarceration, Joshi had made various attempts to stay out of jail by citing ill-health.
