The Santacruz (Bombay) police on July 25 arrested a Bollywood struggler from Lucknow for allegedly threatening to kill Vicky Kaushal if he did not end his marriage with Katrina Kaif. Manvinder Singh, aged 28, had reportedly been issuing threats online since four months. He had also been stalking Katrina Kaif. He started making calls to Vicky recently. He has been booked under IPC sections 354 (d) (stalking) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and Information Technology Act section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form). He will be produced before a Bombay court today (July 26).
Thanks to his phone calls, he was traced to a hotel at Santacruz where he had been staying for some months. In his Instagram profile, Singh has said that Katrina was his wife and has also posted morphed photographs of their “marriage”. He has also posted that Katrina’s sister, Isabelle, married Vicky on December 9, 2021, while he tied the knot with Katrina four days later, on December 13, 2021.
An FIR was registered on July 25, 2022 after Vicky complained in writing to the police, saying that he and his wife, Katrina, had started receiving calls from the person who had threatened to kill him if he did not end his marriage. Kaushal told the police that the accused had posted several threatening, abusive and vulgar messages on Instagram over the last few months before stalking and threatening Katrina too. According to the complaint, Singh also told Vicky that he wanted to marry the actress. In one Instagram post, Manvinder Singh said, he was planning to give an interview to media channels very soon to clear the air about their marriage. Singh’s post also said, “I told Katrina that I don’t want to see these things on social media platforms. Otherwise, I will do something wrong to my sister-in-law’s (Isabelle) husband, Vicky Kaushal. I will kill him if Katrina posts anything on social media platforms again.”
The police said, Singh even posted videos threatening Kaushal with dire consequences. Ultimately, he began making phone calls to the couple.
