LATA MANGESHKAR COLLEGE INAUGURATED | 29 September, 2022

The Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar International College of Music was inaugurated in the Kalina campus of Bombay University on 28th September on the occasion of her birth anniversary. Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis did the honours. The college was first started at P.L. Deshpande Kala Academy at Prabhadevi in Bombay. A total of 7,000 sq. metres of land at Kalina was being handed over to the culture department of Maharashtra for building the college on it. Till then, space within the P.L. Deshpande Kala Academy will be made available.

The state government’s cultural affairs department also gave out the Lata Mangeshkar awards at Ravindra Natyamandir, Prabhadevi, Bombay on 28th. The award for year 2020 was given to Usha Mangeshkar while the award for year 2021 was given to Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
