Dera Sacha Sauda chief and actor-writer-producer-director Ram Rahim Singh has been granted parole for 40 days. He is serving a prison sentence in Haryana’s Sunaria jail.
The parole was granted just before the Adampur bypoll which is to be held on November 3.
Ram Rahim Singh had earlier been granted parole for a month in June. Before that, he was granted three weeks’ furlough in February. He is serving 20 years in jail for raping two women disciples at his ashram in Sirsa. He was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula in August 2017. He was convicted in 2021 along with four others for hatching a conspiracy to kill a Dera manager in 2002. In 2019, he and three others were convicted for the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago.
