Jharkand actress Riya Kumari was shot dead during an attempted highway robbery in Howrah district of West Bengal on 28th December. She was travelling to Calcutta from Ranchi with her husband, Prakash Kumar, and their little daughter. Prakash Kumar is a film and album producer. Riya Kumari had acted in regional films, besides appearing in several music albums under the name of Isha Alya.
According to Prakash Kumar, they were attacked when he stopped the car in which they were travelling, near the Mahishrekha bridge to answer nature’s call.
The police has reportedly found inconsistencies in Prakash Kumar’s statements.
