Akshikha Entertainment’s Pinky Beauty Parlour (A) is a murder mystery.
Bulbul (Khushboo Gupta) runs a beauty parlour in the name of her younger sister, Pinky (Sulagna Panigrahi). Bulbul doesn’t like Pinky because the latter is fairer and more beautiful than her. One day, Bulbul’s dead body is found in her parlour. Police officer Jata Shankar (Vishwanath Chatterjee) investgates the case which looks like suicide. In the net of suspicion are Pinky, Dulal (Akshay Singh), Lata Srivastav, Sumit (Sangam Rai), Khanna (Abhay Joshi) and a few staff members of the parlour. Dulal transports the staff members of the parlour. Lata Srivastav is a client of the parlour who had sued the parlour. Sumit is the boyfriend of Rupa (Arpita Banerjee) who works in the parlour. Khanna is a lowly staff member of the parlour. What is the outcome of the investigations? Does Pinky know more than the others?
Akshay Singh has written a very weak story and screenplay, both of which fail to involve the viewers in the investigation. In fact, the investigation itself is so childish that the audience wonders whether it is for real. Nothing in the drama makes much sense because of the above reasons. Akshay Singh’s dialogues are dull.
Khushoo Gupta is average as Bulbul. Sulagna Panigrahi does an ordinary job as Pinky. Akshay Singh does not quite impress in the role of Dulal. Vishwanath Chatterjee overacts at places and is ordinary at others, in the role of police officer Jata Shankar. Jogi Mallang irritates as hawaldar Sami Akhtar. Abhay Joshi fails to make any mark as Khanna. Arpita Banerjee passes muster in the role of Rupa. Sangam Rai barely manages to act in a tiny role as Rupa’s boyfriend. Others lend poor support.
Akshay Singh’s direction is no better than his story and screenplay. Music (Arbind-Lyton and Chintu Saarthak Kalla) is okay. Lyrics (Arbind Kaushal and Prem) are fair. Akshay Singh’s choreography is below the mark. Rakshit Thantry’s background music is weak. Gagandeep Singh’s camerawork is below-average. Mayur Tripathi’s production designing hardly deserves mention. Sandeep Singh Bajeli’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Pinky Beauty Parlour is a weak fare with bleak chances at the box-office.
