Veteran actor Gufi Paintal breathed his last today (5th June) at around 9 a.m. at a private hospital in Bombay where he had been admitted around a week back for age-related issues. He was 79 years old. He was cremated this evening. Gufi Paintal is survived by a son, daughter-in-law and a grandchild.
Gufi Paintal’s Shakuni Mama in B.R. Chopra’s TV serial Mahabharat gave him fame of the magnitude which he never saw either before or after the serial. In fact, that character made him a household name. Among the films Gufi Paintal was seen in were Suhaag and Dillagi. He was last seen in Sharmaji Namkeen. The TV serials he worked in were C.I.D. and Hello Inspector.
