The Bombay high court on June 15 quashed a 17-year-old FIR filed against singer Mika Singh for forcibly kissing actress Rakhi Sawant at his birthday party in June 2006. On a petition by Mika, Justices Ajay Gadkari and Shivkumar Dige quashed the June 11, 2006 FIR and a February 2015 chargesheet, with Rakhi’s consent.
In her affidavit, Rakhi Sawant said, Mika and she had “amicably resolved all our differences and realised that the entire dispute had arisen due to a misunderstanding and misconception on our part”.
The singer moved the high court in April, seeking to quash the case with the consent of the actress. Rakhi had alleged that at Mika’s birthday party on June 10, 2006, he invited her to cut the cake, and he pulled her and kissed her twice. Mika was arrested then and released on bail.
