Officials of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s P-North ward on January 17 demolished the illegally built Magic Studio at Madh Island, Malad, Bombay. This was part of BMC’s drive against unauthorised studios in the area.
A notice had been issued to the film studio owner for illegal construction, and he had moved the court against the same, but he did not get any relief.
BMC commissioner I.S. Chahal in 2022 ordered an inquiry against the alleged unauthorised studios that had come up at Madh, Marve, Erangal and Bhaatigaon in 2021 and 2022 in no-development zone and coastal regulation zone areas. Several studios and bungalows were razed in 2022-23.
