Alpna Cinema of Delhi will likely give way to a shopping mall. It joins the long list of cinemas in the capital city, which have downed shutters owing to mounting losses and competition from multiplexes.
The cinema opened in 1967 with Hamraaz. Over the decades, it had screened a number of films, many among them being hits, super-hits and blockbusters. Among the many notable films screened at Alpna were Pakeezah and Jewel Thief.
