Street Dancer 3D is disappointing. As against the expected Rs. 65-crore first week, it managed to collect only Rs. 52.75 crore. It started much lower than anticipated when the first day closed at Rs. 9.50 crore as against the expected Rs. 12-13 crore. Collections increased to Rs. 12.50 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 17 crore on Sunday. The Sunday jump was also because of Republic Day. After a first weekend of just Rs. 39 crore, collections during the weekdays were below the mark: Monday – Rs. 4.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.75 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 13.75 crore, the total for the first week went up to Rs. 52.75 crore.
Panga found appreciation in the first week but collections remained very low. It started with a take of Rs. 1.75 crore on Friday. Collections more than doubled on Saturday which closed at Rs. 3.80 crore. The Sunday figure was Rs. 4.85 crore . After a disheartening total of Rs. 10.40 crore for the first weekend, collections were steady at low levels during the weekdays. It collected Rs. 1.30 crore on Monday, Rs. 1.20 crore on each of Tuesday and Wednesday, and Rs. 1.10 crore on Thursday. In this way, it added Rs. 4.80 crore to its kitty in the weekdays. Total for 1st week: only Rs. 15.20 crore.
Shaheed Chandra Shekhar Azad bombed all over in 1st week.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior stood its ground in 3rd week also. Business in Maharashtra is historic. It collected Rs. 4.75 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 8.50 crore on the second day of the third weekend, and to Rs. 11.50 crore on Sunday (Republic Day). After a third weekend total of Rs. 24.75 crore, collections on the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 3.75 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.90 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.60 crore. By adding Rs. 12.25 crore to the kitty in the weekdays, the film took its third week’s total to Rs. 37 crore and its grand total for 3 weeks to Rs. 226.60 crore. In other words, it joined the Rs. 200-crore club on the 16th day!
Good Newwz collected Rs. 0.90 crore in the fifth weekend, and another Rs. 0.53 crore in the weekdays. By netting Rs. 1.43 crore to its kitty in the fifth week, it took its 5-week total to Rs. 202.44 crore.
______
Shahid Bhai Kotwal (Marathi) did poor in 1st week in Bombay, Thane district and other stations of Maharashtra.
Miss You Miss (Marathi) recorded below-average collections in 1st week in Bombay, Thane district and the rest of Maharashtra.
Jai Mummy Di proved a box-office disaster in the first week. Although a comedy, it anything but made the audience laugh. It collected Rs. 0.45 crore on the first day, Rs. 0.55 crore on the second day, and Rs. 0.60 crore on Sunday. Collections slid down to almost ground level in the weekdays, after a weekend of only Rs. 1.60 crore. It netted Rs. 0.20 crore on each of Monday and Tuesday, and Rs. 0.15 crore on each of Wednesday and Thursday, thereby taking its total for the weekdays to just Rs. 0.70 crore. The first week, therefore, closed at a dismal Rs. 2.30 crore.
Bunker bombed miserably in the first week everywhere.
Dolittle (dubbed) and the English original of the same name did average business in the first weekend but dropped in the weekdays. It collected Rs. 1.20 crore on Friday. Collections increased by 50% on Saturday so that the day closed at Rs. 1.80 crore. Collection on Sunday was Rs. 1.90 crore, giving a weekend total of Rs. 4.90 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.35 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 1.45 crore, the first week’s total went up to Rs. 6.35 crore.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior did extraordinarily well in its second week too. It started the second weekend with a total of Rs. 10 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 16 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 21 crore on Sunday, taking the second weekend’s total to Rs. 47 crore. The collections on the weekdays were also fantastic: Monday – Rs. 7.75 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 7 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 6.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 6.35 crore. In this way, it netted Rs. 27.60 crore in the weekdays. The second week’s total, therefore, was an astounding Rs. 74.60 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 189.60 crore.
Chhapaak collected Rs. 0.75 crore on the first day of the second weekend. It netted Rs. 1.25 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 1.45 crore on Sunday, taking the second weekend’s total to Rs. 3.45 crore. Collections in the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.45 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.45 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.40 crore. By netting Rs. 1.65 crore in the weekdays, the film took its second week’s total to Rs. 5.10 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 31 crore.
Good Newwz entered the Rs. 200-crore club in the fourth week. It collected Rs. 3.60 crore in the fourth weekend, and Rs. 2.20 crore in the weekdays. In this way, it netted Rs. 5.80 crore in the fourth week. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 201.01 crore.
______
Lata Bhagwan Kare (Marathi) failed to do anything worthwhile in the first week in Bombay, Thane district and the rest of Maharashtra.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, contrary to our review, has turned out to be a super-hit. It netted Rs. 14 crore on the first day, which was a very good figure. Collections jumped by more than 40% on Saturday which, therefore, closed at an outstanding Rs. 20 crore. Sunday saw collections increase even more (Rs. 25.50 crore). In this way, the first weekend closed at Rs. 59.50 crore. Collections during the weekdays were equally outstanding. The partial holidays due to Lori (on 13th) and Sankranti (on 14th) gave more boost to the collections. Collections were as follows: Monday – Rs. 13.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 16 crore, Thursday – Rs. 11.25 crore. Interestingly, collections on Monday were only slightly lower than Friday but the totals for Tuesday and Wednesday were more than Friday. By adding Rs. 55.50 crore to the kitty, it took its first week’s total to Rs. 115 crore. It joined the 100-crore club on the sixth day itself! Its performance in Maharashtra (due to the film being about the Marathas) was simply phenomenal. The film is going super-strong in the second week too and is now set for a long run.
Chhapaak could not make much of a splash in 1st week. Collections may have been affected slightly by the call to boycott the film because heroine Deepika Padukone went to the JNU in Delhi three days before the film’s release to express solidarity with the anti-CAA students. It netted only Rs. 4.50 crore on the first day. Collections increased by more than 40% on Saturday but the total of Rs. 6.50 crore was not too impressive. The increase of a mere Rs. 0.50 crore on Sunday underlined the fact that the film had not found much acceptance. No doubt, it was a class-appealing film but the first weekend’s total of only Rs. 18 crore was just about okay even for a class-appealing fare starring Deepika and directed by Meghna Gulzar. Collections during the weekdays were not encouraging despite Lori and Sankranti. It netted Rs. 2.05 crore on Monday, Rs. 2.25 crore on Tuesday, Rs. 2.25 crore on Wednesday, and Rs. 1.35 crore on Thursday. By netting Rs. 7.90 crore in the weekdays, it took its first week’s total to Rs. 25.90 crore.
Darbar (dubbed) did ordinary business in the first week all over.
Good Newwz did decent business in 3rd week too, in spite of new oppositions. It collected Rs. 2 crore on Friday, Rs. 3.15 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 3.40 crore on Sunday, taking the third weekend’s total to Rs. 8.55 crore. Collections in the weekdays were also good: Monday – Rs. 1.15 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.65 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.75 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.05 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 5.60 crore. Total for 3rd week: Rs. 14.15 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 195.21 crore. Overseas, it has grossed Rs. 71.05 crore!
______
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (Marathi dubbed) did well in the first week in Bombay, Thane district and the rest of Maharashtra.
Bhangra Paa Le met with a disastrous fate. It collected barely Rs. 0.50 crore in the first weekend during which a number of shows in different cinemas had to be cancelled due to zero audience. Collections in the weekdays were even more pathetic — that is, wherever it lasted after the weekend.
Sab Kushal Mangal proved a damp squib in the first week, collecting barely Rs. 0.40 crore in the weekend. Its shows at many places were cancelled. Collections in the weekdays, where it lasted, were even more miserable.
Shimla Mirchi faced rejection right from day one. The film recorded horrendous collections in the first week during which shows were hardly held.
English Ki Taay Taay Fisss… proved a debacle in the first week.
Antervyatha was a debacle in 1st week everywhere.
Acid bombed miserably in the first week everywhere.
Good Newwz maintained very well in the second week after a phenomenal first week of Rs. 127.90 crore. It started the second weekend with a take of Rs. 8.10 crore. Collections jumped to Rs. 11.70 crore on Saturday and further to Rs. 14.40 crore on Sunday, taking the second weekend’s total to Rs. 34.20 crore. Collections in the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 5.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 5.04 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 4.77 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3.75 crore. In this way, the film added Rs. 18.96 crore to its kitty in the weekdays, taking its total for the second week to Rs. 53.16 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 181.06 crore. Overseas, the film has grossed around Rs. 65 crore in 2 weeks! It is the highest-grossing Akshay Kumar starrer abroad and may well become so in India too.
Dabangg 3 netted Rs. 2.65 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 1.50 crore in the weekdays. It, therefore, added Rs. 4.15 crore to its kitty in 3rd week and thereby took its 3-week total to Rs. 146.85 crore.
Mardaani 2 collected Rs. 1.35 crore in the fourth weekend, and Rs. 0.75 crore in the weekdays. With a total of Rs. 2.10 crore in the fourth week, it took its 4-week total to Rs. 47.35 crore. It has surpassed the total of Hichki, also starring Rani Mukerji. Hichki had collected Rs. 46.18 crore in its entire run.
Jumanji: The Next Level (dubbed) and the English original
of the same name collected Rs. 2.25 crore in the fourth weekend. Collections in
the weekdays were Rs. 1.05 crore. In this way, its fourth week’s total was Rs.
3.30 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 60.92 crore.
Pati Patni Aur Woh netted Rs.
0.90 crore in the fifth week. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 85.14 crore.
_______
Dhurala (Marathi) did quite well in 1st week in Bombay, Thane district and other centres of Maharashtra.
GOOD NEWWZ has been the perfect ending to a fine year.
Good Newwz has done phenomenally well in the first week and should go super-strong in its second week too. It collected Rs. 17.56 crore on the first day. Collections increased by 25% on the second day which closed at Rs. 21.78 crore. There was a further jump of around 18% on Sunday (Rs. 25.65 crore). The weekend, therefore, closed at Rs. 64.99 crore. Collections during the weekdays were also extraordinary due to excellent word of mouth and the New Year’s eve and New Year celebratory mood. It collected Rs. 13.41 crore on Monday, Rs. 16.20 crore on Tuesday (31st December), Rs. 22.50 crore on Wednesday (New Year’s day), and Rs. 10.80 crore on Thursday. In this way, the film netted Rs. 62.91 crore in the weekdays, almost as much as in the weekend. The first week, therefore, closed at an exceptional Rs. 127.90 crore. The film joined the Rs. 100-crore club on the sixth day itself. Its performance at the Overseas box-office was also lovely. It grossed Rs. 25 crore in the first weekend and another Rs. 20.60 crore in the weekdays, taking the first week’s Overseas total to Rs. 45.60 crore. It may become Akshay’s highest grosser abroad as it has already surpassed his earlier hits in North America and Australia.
Dabangg 3 dropped by almost 85% in 2nd week despite the New Year celebratory mood. The second weekend started on a slow note with a net collection of Rs. 3 crore on Friday. The collections for Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 3.50 crore and Rs. 4 crore respectively. After a second weekend total of Rs. 10.50 crore, collections during the weekdays were as follows: Rs. 2 crore on Monday, Rs. 2.50 crore on Tuesday (New Year’s eve), Rs. 4.10 crore on Wednesday (New Year’s day), and Rs. 1.60 crore on Thursday. The total for the weekdays, therefore, was Rs. 10.20 crore. In this way, the second week’s total was Rs. 20.70 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 142.70 crore.
Star Wars: Vijaypath (dubbed) and the English original, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, fared poorly in 2nd week.
Mardaani 2 did fair business in 3rd week. It netted Rs. 2.70 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 2.35 crore in the weekdays. By adding Rs. 5.05 crore to its kitty in 3rd week, it took its grand total for 3 weeks to Rs. 45.25 crore. The lifetime collections of Rani Mukerji’s Hichki, her last film before Mardaani 2, were Rs. 46.18 crore. So, Mardaani 2 is all set to surpass that.
Jumanji: The Next Level (dubbed) and the English original of the same name collected Rs. 4.10 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 4.20 crore in the weekdays. By adding Rs. 8.30 crore to its kitty in the third week, it took its total for 3 weeks to Rs. 57.62 crore.
Pati Patni Aur Woh collected Rs. 1 crore in the fourth weekend, and Rs. 1.03 crore in the weekdays, taking the fourth week’s total to Rs. 2.03 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 84.24 crore.
_______
Aatpadi Nights (Marathi) could not do much in 1st week in Bombay, Thane district and other centres of Maharashtra.
Dome (Marathi) failed to click with the paying public in the first week in Bombay, Thane district and the rest of Maharashtra.
DABANGG 3, which was expected to make a big bang at the box-office, proved a dampener. This week’s GOOD NEWWZ has brought good cheer as the trade prepares to bid goodbye to the year and to welcome the new year.
Dabangg 3 has disappointed the public and, therefore, the trade. The tension in different parts of the country and extreme cold in North India did take their toll on the collections but even otherwise, collections were not upto the mark because of lack of appreciation. The film was dubbed in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu also. All the four versions together netted Rs. 24.50 crore on the first day, which was good but not great. Collections dropped on Saturday which closed at Rs. 23.75 crore. Although the fall was only Rs. 0.75 crore, the alarming point was that collections dropped instead of picking up by 20-30%. The net total for Sunday was Rs. 30.50 crore, taking the first weekend’s total to Rs. 78.75 crore. Collections on the weekdays were average, except on Wednesday which was a holiday (Christmas). It netted Rs. 10.25 crore on Monday, Rs. 10 crore on Tuesday, Rs. 16 crore on Wednesday, and Rs. 7 crore on Thursday. By netting Rs. 43.25 crore in the weekdays, it took its first week’s total to Rs. 122 crore. Having crossed the Rs. 100-crore mark on the sixth day, the film will now struggle to keep itself going on each passing day of the second week. It will be difficult for the Salman starrer to even reach the Rs. 150-crore mark as advance booking in the big cities is poor.
Star Wars: Vijaypath (dubbed) and the English original titled Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker could not score in 1st week. It collected Rs. 1.20 crore on the first day. Collections increased to Rs. 1.55 crore on Saturday, but reduced to Rs. 1.40 crore on Sunday. After a weekend total of Rs. 4.15 crore, collections on the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.55 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.90 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.45 crore. By collecting a total of Rs. 2.40 crore in the weekdays, the film took its first week’s total to Rs. 6.55 crore.
Mardaani 2 held on very well in the second week. It netted Rs. 1.15 crore on the first day of the second weekend. Collections increased to Rs. 1.95 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 2.55 crore on Sunday. The second weekend, therefore, closed at a decent Rs. 5.65 crore. Collections got a boost on Christmas day but they were good even on the other weekdays: Monday – Rs. 1.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.45 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.30 crore. In this way, the film added Rs. 6.50 crore to its kitty in the weekdays and hence took its second week’s total to Rs. 12.15 crore. The grand total for 2 weeks was Rs. 40.20 crore. In just 12 days, the film surpassed the total of Mardaani (Rs. 35.85 crore).
Jumanji: The Next Level (dubbed) and the English original of the same name did well in 2nd week also. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 1.20 crore. Saturday and Sunday collections showed jumps, with the days closing at Rs. 2.10 crore and Rs. 2.70 crore respectively. After a second weekend total of Rs. 6 crore, the collections during the weekdays were also good: Monday – Rs. 1.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.75 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.60 crore. By adding Rs. 7.75 crore in the weekdays, the film took its second week’s total to Rs. 13.75 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 49.32 crore.
Pati Patni Aur Woh was quite badly affected by the big release, Dabangg 3. It started its third weekend on a low note by netting Rs. 0.70 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 1.20 crore and Rs. 1.50 crore respectively. Therefore, the film netted Rs. 3.40 crore in the third weekend. Collections in the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.95 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.03 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.80 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.78 crore. By netting Rs. 4.56 crore in the weekdays, the film took its total for the third week to Rs. 7.96 crore. Its grand total for 3 weeks was Rs. 82.21 crore.
The opening of this week’s DABANGG 3 is definitely not exciting news. No doubt, the tense atmosphere in some parts of the country due to agitations over CAB and NRC, and extreme cold in North India have affected collections adversely, but the initial otherwise, too, was not exceptional as is the norm for Salman starrers.
Mardaani 2 has done very well in the first week, surpassing the first week’s collections of the first part (Mardaani) in just 5 days. It netted Rs. 3.80 crore on the first day, which was a decent opening, considering that it stars only Rani Mukerji (and has no hero) and has the Mardaani brand to boast of. Collections jumped up by 75% on the second day which closed at Rs. 6.55 crore. Collections on Sunday were even better at Rs. 7.80 crore. Therefore, the first weekend’s total was more than four-and-a-half times the first day’s collections. After a weekend of Rs. 18.15 crore, collections on the weekdays were also good: Monday – Rs. 2.85 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.65 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.15 crore. By adding Rs. 9.90 crore to its kitty in the weekdays, the film took its total for the first week to Rs. 28.05 crore. Mardaani had netted Rs. 22.97 crore in the first week whereas Rani’s Hichki had collected Rs. 26.10 crore in the first seven days. Mardaani 2 has been made at a cost of Rs. 20 crore, and an additional sum of Rs. 7 crore has been spent on its promotion and release. Of the investment of Rs. 27 crore, the producers had already recovered Rs. 25 crore from sale of satellite and digital rights, leaving only Rs. 2 crore to be recovered from India and Overseas theatrical revenues to break even. The first week’s share from India alone is Rs. 14 crore, making the film a semi-hit. Abroad, the film has grossed Rs. 8.5 crore in the first week.
The Body met with a disastrous fate. It started slow and almost sank into oblivion as the week progressed. It collected only Rs. 0.60 crore on the first day. Collection on Saturday was Rs. 0.85 crore but the figure for Sunday (Rs. 0.80 crore) was less than that, underlining the fact that the film had been rejected. After a first weekend of Rs. 2.25 crore, collections on the weekdays were very poor: Monday – Rs. 0.28 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.26 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.26 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.25 crore. By adding just Rs. 1.05 crore to the kitty in the weekdays, the film took its first week’s total to Rs. 3.30 crore.
Phati Padi Hai Yaar! bombed miserably in the first week.
Sound Of Water died a silent death at the ticket windows in 1st week.
Mudda 370 J & K failed to get much patronage in the first week.
Unfriends hardly made friends at the box-office in 1st week.
Mamangam (dubbed) flopped in the first week.
Jumanji: The Next Level (dubbed) and the English original of the same name did well in 1st week. After collecting Rs. 1.15 crore in paid previews on Thursday (not Rs. 1.25 crore as mentioned last week), it netted Rs. 5.05 crore on Friday. Collections increased more than 60% on Saturday so that the day closed at Rs. 8.35 crore. The total on Sunday at Rs. 10.10 crore was 20% more than on Saturday. Therefore, the film netted Rs. 24.65 crore in the first weekend (including paid previews). Collections during the weekdays were nice: Monday – Rs. 3.01 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.80 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.60 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.51 crore. By netting Rs. 10.92 crore in the weekdays, the film took its total for the first week to Rs. 35.57 crore.
Panipat fared poorly in 2nd week. It collected Rs. 0.65 crore on the first day of the second weekend. Collections increased to Rs. 1.25 crore on Saturday, and to Rs. 1.55 crore on Sunday so that the second weekend’s total went up to Rs. 3.45 crore. Collections on the weekdays were dull: Monday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.80 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.05 crore. In this way, the film added Rs. 2.75 crore to its kitty in the weekdays and took its total for 2nd week to Rs. 6.20 crore. Total for 2 weeks: Rs. 31.95 crore. Its gross total Overseas for the first two weeks was only Rs. 8.44 crore.

In this way, its total for the second weekend was Rs. 13.45 crore. Collections during the weekdays were fair but steady: Monday – Rs.1.91 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.88 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.65 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.87 crore. By netting Rs. 7.31 crore in the weekdays, the film took its second week’s total to Rs. 20.76 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 74.25 crore.

Panipat has fared miserably in the first week in spite of good reviews by the majority of the reviewers. As predicted, the big-budget period drama found few takers as compared to the investment made in the Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer. It started slow and although collections picked up during the weekend, the increase in collections was limited because of the poor reports of the film. Collections dropped markedly after the weekend — and this despite the fact that the weekend collections themselves were on the lower side. The film started off with a net total of Rs. 4.15 crore. On Saturday, the total was Rs. 5.75 crore. Collections increased further to Rs. 7.85 crore, taking the first weekend’s total to Rs. 17.75 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 2.60 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.25 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.70 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.45 crore. In this way, the film netted Rs. 8 crore in the weekdays. The total for the first week, therefore, was an unimpressive Rs. 25.75 crore only. The film is likely to entail a loss of Rs. 35-crore-plus to the producers/distributors. Its performance abroad was also dismal.
Pati Patni Aur Woh did exceedingly well in the first week all over. It recorded the best opening for Kartik Aaryan so far, by netting Rs. 9.10 crore on the first day. Collections jumped up by 40% on Saturday which closed at Rs. 12.33 crore. The figure for Sunday was even more — Rs. 14.51 crore. In this way, the comedy film collected a total of Rs. 35.94 crore in the first weekend. Collections for the weekdays were also pretty impressive: Monday – Rs. 5.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.75 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.90 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3.65 crore. By netting Rs. 17.55 crore in the weekdays, the film took its first week’s total to Rs. 53.49 crore.
Pahala Pahala Pyar fared miserably in the first week and proved to be a damp squib.
Commando 3 dropped dramatically in 2nd week because of the two major releases. It collected only Rs. 1.70 crore in the second weekend, and an additional Rs. 1.14 crore in the weekdays. By adding Rs. 2.84 crore to its kitty in the second week, it took its grand total for 2 weeks to Rs. 32.06 crore.
Hotel Mumbai (dubbed) and the English version of the same name could collect only Rs. 1.10 crore in the second weekend, and Rs. 0.58 crore in the weekdays. It, therefore, netted Rs. 1.68 crore in 2nd week, taking its total for 2 weeks to Rs. 8.89 crore.
Frozen II (animation, dubbed) and the English original of the same name collected Rs. 0.60 crore on the first day of the third weekend. Collections almost trebled on Saturday (Rs. 1.70 crore) and shot up even more on Sunday (Rs. 2.10 crore). Hence, the film amassed Rs. 4.40 crore in the third weekend. It added Rs. 1.35 crore to its kitty in the weekdays. In this way, its total for 3rd week was Rs. 5.75 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 43.60 crore.
______
Vicky Velingkar (Marathi) recorded miserable collections in 1st week in Bombay, Thane district and the rest of Maharashtra.
Commando 3 did reasonably well in the first week. As around 80-90% of the investment in the film had already been recovered from non-theatrical sources, it has proven to be a paying proposal for all concerned. It started on an average note but collections showed improvement in the evening and night shows on Friday so that the day ended at Rs. 4.74 crore.
