An NRI businessman staying in a posh apartment at Lower Parel in Bombay was booked in a rape case after an actress alleged that the accused took her to various places under the promise of marriage, and sexually molested her on several occasions. The N.M. Joshi Marg police have booked businessman Viren Patel under the IPC sections of rape, assault and criminal intimidation.
According to the actress, she came in contact with Patel, who is from Tanzania, at a friend’s birthday party in October 2022. She said that the two became close friends, and she also started living with him after he promised to marry her. She added that later, he also forced her to have unnatural sex with him and he used to beat her. The complainant said, he refused to marry her, after which she lodged the police complaint.
