The decision of the court, hearing the interim bail application of Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, will be pronounced tomorrow (October 8). Aryan’s advocate, Satish Maneshinde, made the interim bail application soon after the Esplanade court this evening (October 7) sent Aryan (along with seven others who were arrested with him) to judicial custody for 14 days.
It may be recalled that Aryan and seven others were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 3 following a raid the previous evening on board a cruise liner which set sail from Bombay to Goa as the NCB had information that there was to be a rave party on the cruise liner. Drugs were found on the liner but none in possession of Aryan. A court had on October 3 sent Aryan and others to NCB custody for a day. On October 4, the NCB custody was extended till October 7. The NCB today asked for Aryan’s further custody till October 11 as, according to the agency, it wanted to bring Aryan, his friend, Arbaz Merchant, who was also arrested, and alleged drugs supplier Achit Kumar face-to-face. Satish Maneshinde told the court that the NCB could have easily brought them face-to-face soon after the arrest of Achit Kumar and that there was no need for further custody of Aryan by the NCB. The court agreed with Maneshinde and refused to grant the NCB further custody of Aryan. It sent Aryan to 14 days’ judicial custody.
