The Congress has demanded that the new Versova-Bandra Sea Link (VBSL) be named after late actor Dilip Kumar. In a letter to Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Congress minister Aslam Shaikh has said that the under-construction bridge should be named after the thespian who passed away earlier this year.
Shaikh, the guardian minister of Bombay city, explained that Dilip Kumar has left behind a legacy of films which spanned six decades, and he gave Hindi cinema some of its most enduring classics. The actor was a resident of Bandra (in Bombay), and the VBSL starts in Bandra, close to his house.
